An Overview of Panic Attack Management

Panic Attack CareWhat causes panic attacks? They happen because of stress or pressure in your everyday life. Accidents, threats, trauma and other fearful situations also cause panic attacks.

As early as now, you must know how to stop panic attacks. One of the best ways is learning how to calm down. You can write in a journal, join yoga retreats at Vagabond Temple, speak to a trusted friend, and more.

Relax and Breathe

A symptom of panic attacks is breathing difficulty. You are palpitating and hyperventilating. First, you should relax. It is a “panic” attack, and if you succumb to more panicking, you will not be able to get out of it.

The next step is to perform breathing exercises. It will help you balance the oxygen and carbon dioxide in your body. Take a deep breath. Use your diaphragm to inhale for a few seconds. Then, slowly exhale for a few seconds. This will normalise your breathing. You can practice meditation, too.

Write in a Journal

During a panic attack, you feel like there is something heavy on your chest. You are probably experiencing it because of stress or a traumatic situation. To help yourself, you can write what you are feeling in a journal. It will help lighten your heavy feelings.

Move to a Different Environment

A particular place or situation might be suffocating you. Moving to a different environment will help you relax. Going outside or moving to an open area will help you breathe. Nature makes you feel more comfortable and safe. Going to a place with trees and flowers can help you stop a panic attack.

Knowing how to control yourself will prevent anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems. It is also better if you try to be happy always. Life has its ups and downs. Without sadness, you wouldn’t appreciate real happiness.
